About DU Agriculture

Ducks Unlimited is the world's leader in wetlands and waterfowl conservation. Through innovative partnerships with farmers, ranchers and corporations, we work to create sustainable solutions that benefit agriculture, wildlife and communities. Our mission is simple: to protect the landscapes that sustain us all while ensuring a thriving future for agriculture and conservation.

Our History

Founded in 1937, Ducks Unlimited began as a response to the devastating droughts and habitat loss that threatened North America's waterfowl populations. Recognizing the interdependence of thriving ecosystems and sustainable agriculture, we've expanded our focus to include conservation efforts on agricultural lands.

Key Milestones:

  • Developed early wetland conservation programs to protect migratory bird habitats.

  • Partnered with farmers and ranchers to address challenges like erosion, soil health and water quality.

  • Established innovative collaborations with corporate partners to scale conservation efforts.

Why Do We Do It

Healthy agricultural landscapes are the foundation of our communities, our food supply and the ecosystems that sustain wildlife. Ducks Unlimited believes that conservation and agriculture go hand in hand. By empowering farmers and ranchers with sustainable practices, we can:

  • Protect critical habitats for wildlife.
  • Ensure the productivity and resilience of farmland for future generations.
  • Strengthen rural economies and foster community growth.

How We Work

Ducks Unlimited combines science-based practices with hands-on partnerships to create solutions that benefit both agriculture and conservation. By collaborating with farmers, ranchers and corporations, we tailor strategies to address soil health, grazing systems and water and land management. Our focus is on implementing sustainable practices that enhance productivity, protect natural resources and support thriving ecosystems—ensuring lasting benefits for agricultural operations, rural communities and wildlife.
